I am a 26-year-old Kiwi living here in Los Angeles in Marina del Rey. I grew up in Auckland, and my family lives on the North Shore in Devonport. I have been here in LA on and off since I graduated from film school in 2001.
I am aspiring to act and produce out here, and I have already worked on several different films both short and feature length here and at home. I most recently worked on a film in the Art Department. I like it here in LA, however, I do find it hard to meet really down to earth and genuine people. I really miss New Zealand wine! I love to go out and party, to travel and to meet new people.

My 25 year old daughter and 5 year old grandson live in my house back home. I subsidise them - as mothers do! Looking forward to meeting some familiar voices! marie104@comcast.net

Born in Hong Kong to Kiwi parents, I was shipped off at an early age to Christ's College in Christchurch. After completing a Master of Commerce Degree in Economics and Finance at Auckland University, I worked for Andersen Corporate Finance Group for eight years, four years of which was in the Merger and Acquisition group in Manhattan, NY. In May 2004, I decided to attend USC's Master of Real Estate Development Program, a year long program that focuses on development and investments in real estate. |
Though I have never been to New Zealand, I made a few very good
Kiwi friends while I lived in Japan from 1993 to 1996. While in
Japan, I quickly embraced the international community and personally
felt that the Kiwis were the most hospitable and friendly group
of people.
Upon arriving back to the States, I passed the CPA exam in New
York and worked in the Japanese Business Group of a big four accounting
firm. I transferred to Los Angeles about three years ago and am
currently working at a Torrance tax software company. I miss being
with Kiwis and the international community. I think that joining
this group will be a great chance to meet a number of really cool
people and I look forward to meeting you soon.

After several years in the wilderness, guiding tourists through
New Zealand's prime backcountry, I decided to move into website
design about six months before the dot com house came crashing down!
Since completing my studies at Santa Monica College, I have been
building web design business specializing in sites for small businesses
and non-profits like KiwisinLA. I enjoy the mix of coding, graphic
design and strategic thinking this job provides, not to mention
the challenge of having to do it myself. |

I was born and raised in Auckland, where I attended St. Cuthbert's College. At the age of 16 -- greatly inspired by the TV show LA Law -- I left the homeland solo to pursue a legal career in the United States. I received my BA in English from UCLA, and my JD from the UCLA School of Law. Go Bruins!!!
I am currently a Senior Litigation Associate at the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis in Los Angeles, where my practice focuses on civil litigation, particularly products liability, toxic torts and class actions. I also serve pro bono as a Deputy City Prosecutor for the cities of Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach.
My husband Craig and I live in beautiful Pasadena, where on weekends you will find us with our four cats, knee-deep in rubble and dust, as we renovate our home.

Shaun was born in Putaruru in the Waikato District in New Zealand
in 1960. His family were farmers, although his Dad soon got into
the insurance business and left the land behind. The family moved
to Wellington when Shaun was about 7, and immersed themselves
in the theatre world. It was here Shaun picked up an appreciation
for music, and he left the sunny shores of Aotearoa at the age
of 19 to seek his fame and fortune as a musician.
After many years of ups and downs and approaching his mid-30s,
Shaun decided he needed to put down roots. He settled in LA (Sherman
Oaks) where he has established himself as a successful Mortgage
Consultant, helping people obtain financing primarily for residential
homes, but also helping fund commercial properties. He is married
to the lovely Tina, and in between barbequeing on the weekend,
finds time to record small music projects in his home studio.
If you would like to discuss music, barbeques, Real Estate Financing,
or all of the above, please call Shaun at 818-625-1495.

I was born in Christchurch, and came over to California in 1994 to attend UC Berkeley where I received my PhD in Biological Anthropology. During grad school I met my now husband (a California native) who was finishing up his PhD in Arahcaeology. In 2000, I moved down to LA, and we now have a daughter (who will soon be a dual citizen). Tom and I spend much of our time in Panama where I study spider monkeys and he digs up archaeological sites.
One of my favorite things about LA is the presence of activities and people related to home, e.g., I play netball with the Santa Monica Waves netball club, and always attend the rugby sevens tourney with kiwisinla ;-)
